The other day, I had a watercolor party with Mindy, and this is what came out of it! All of these were completely spontaneous and not pre-planned. Watercoloring is so fun and makes me feel about 5 years old. I totally recommend it!  You can buy a kit for pretty cheap from an art store, and then stream-of-consciousness-like, just paint exactly what’s on your mind.  It doesn’t matter if you’re any good or not, it’s so therapeutic!  I sort of stayed in the pink/purple/blue range of colors and sort of liked that it makes these super random topics all seem coherent like a set.

A true friend, when she sees you randomly glueing plastic jewels to your toenails, while you two are in the middle of bejeweling pairs of pink and purple tights, doesn’t say “wtf is wrong with you Amy”– she laughs at you for 5 minutes, clutching at her stomach, and then proceeds to glue plastic jewels onto her toenails, too, saying “We have the fanciest toes in the world!”  Oh yeah, and a true friend agrees with enthusiasm to bejewel tights with you in the first place!

This is why Victoria and I have been friends for 8 years!

Airbnb had a field trip to the Charles and Ray Eames Estate today, and I had a mini-freakout. It was amazing amazing amazing. The Eames were usability and user testing heroes– they cared so much about how their chairs fit the human shape and had people of so many heights and sizes try their chair prototypes until they got it right. They (obviously) have an amazing design sense and so their chairs are beautiful too. I tried sitting in every single chair– they felt ridiculously comfortable, and now I want to own one.

I love their ideas for mathematical art, like their print of the knight’s tour. And the Mathematica exhibit they designed for the Boston Museum of Science is one of my favorite science museum exhibits– and definitely the one with the best typography.

The villains of Batman, The Animated Series left little valentines around my apartment, all addressed to Batman, the days leading up to February 14th.  Lovely gestures, really.  But all in vain– everyone knows it’s the Joker and Batman that are true soulmates.

In the spirit of the last Harry Potter movie (I got my ticket already, have you?), I present to you a ridiculous cartoon I drew on the topic of ghost hugging.  Click for a more readable size!
